Tragic Israeli Airstrike on Gaza School Shelter Claims 15 Lives: Latest News and Updates
An Israeli airstrike on Thursday struck the Al-Faluja school in the Jabalia camp, claiming the lives of at least fifteen people, including women and children, as reported by the Gaza Civil Defense Authority. The school had been serving as a shelter for civilians displaced by ongoing violence.
According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the airstrike targeted what they described as a “command and control center” for Hamas located within the school premises. However, the attack has raised serious concerns about civilian safety, with dozens reported injured in the strike.
Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Basal confirmed that nine dismembered bodies from the strike were received at Kamal Adwan Hospital, where conditions are dire and resources are scarce. Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, the hospital's head, expressed alarm over the nature of the injuries.
The IDF stated that they took precautions to reduce civilian harm, employing precise munitions and thorough aerial surveillance before the strike. Despite escalating tensions in the region, airstrikes on Gaza continue unabated, leaving hospitals overwhelmed and civilians in desperate need of food and water.
