The Titans are honoring three-time Pro Bowl safety Jamal Adams' request for release, as reported by his agents to ESPN's Adam Schefter on Thursday.
Adams joined the Titans on a one-year deal in July after being let go by the Seattle Seahawks. His move to Tennessee was a chance to reunite with defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson, who had coached him as a defensive backs coach during his time with the New York Jets, where he was the sixth overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. During his brief tenure with the Titans, Adams played just 20 snaps across three games.
He made his debut in Week 2 against the Jets, logging two snaps, and recorded a season-high of 17 snaps the following week against the Green Bay Packers. However, his frustration grew after he played only one snap in Week 4 against the Miami Dolphins.
While Adams stated that he wasn't upset about not being a starter, he expressed a desire for more opportunities to contribute, leading to his decision to request a release.
From the Titans' perspective, a key issue was Adams' limited practice time, as he had missed significant periods during training camp due to a hip injury. This past Saturday, the team placed him on the non-football injury list.
Despite the circumstances, Adams affirmed that he is healthy and eager to make an impact with his next team.
