Tesla Unveils $30K Cybercab Robotaxi and New Robovan at "We, Robot" Event

Tesla CEO Elon Musk unveiled the highly anticipated driverless Cybercab robotaxi on Thursday night, alongside a surprise: a larger autonomous Robovan. The event, held at Warner Brothers Studios in Los Angeles, featured a live demonstration of the Cybercab, which navigated the lot with no steering wheel or pedals, emphasizing its fully autonomous design.

Musk announced that the Cybercab is expected to cost under $30,000 and will launch in 2026, with plans for unsupervised full self-driving (FSD) trials beginning next year in Texas and California. This robotaxi will utilize wireless induction charging technology.

The new Robovan, designed to transport up to 20 people or significant cargo, showcased a futuristic design reminiscent of science fiction, though no pricing or launch date was provided.

Additionally, Musk introduced a group of Optimus robots, which he estimated would retail between $20,000 and $30,000 in the future. Attendees enjoyed rides in both the Cybercab and Tesla's Model 3 and Model Y, experiencing the company's push towards a new era of autonomous transport.
