LeQuint Allen Leads Syracuse to Overtime Victory Over No. 25 UNLV, 44-41
Despite battling intense pain in his lower leg, LeQuint Allen delivered for Syracuse, scoring the game-winning touchdown in overtime to secure a thrilling 44-41 win over No. 25 UNLV on Friday night.
After Caden Chittenden’s 41-yard field goal gave the Rebels a 41-38 lead in overtime, Allen powered through for his fourth touchdown of the game, dragging a defender into the end zone. He finished with 71 rushing yards and two touchdowns, along with nine receptions for 58 yards and two scores.
Syracuse quarterback Kyle McCord threw for 355 yards, completing 40 of 63 passes with three touchdowns and an interception. Oronde Gadsen II also had a standout game, catching 10 passes for 142 yards.
UNLV, now 4-1, had a strong showing with Hajj-Malik Williams completing 21 of 25 passes for 227 yards and three touchdowns. The back-and-forth matchup featured four lead changes and ended with Syracuse rallying to tie it late in regulation.
With 31,329 fans in attendance, this game marked UNLV’s first overtime since 2021. Both teams will look to bounce back next week, with Syracuse facing N.C. State and UNLV heading to Utah State.
