C.J. Stroud delivered a thrilling finish, throwing for 345 yards and two touchdowns, including a crucial 1-yard pass to Dare Ogunbowale with just 18 seconds remaining, leading the Houston Texans to a 24-20 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
After a defensive stand forced the Jaguars into a three-and-out, Stroud orchestrated a nine-play, 69-yard drive that secured the Texans’ first points of the second half. This victory improves Houston’s record to 3-1, bouncing back from a tough loss to Minnesota.
Nico Collins was a standout performer, catching 12 passes for 151 yards and a touchdown, marking his third 100-yard game this season. Meanwhile, Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence managed 169 yards and two touchdowns but extended his winless streak to nine games, as Jacksonville dropped to 0-4 for the first time since 2021.
The Jaguars had a strong start, scoring early after a fumbled punt return by the Texans. However, despite leading for much of the second half, they faltered when they failed to capitalize on a 58-yard run by Tank Bigsby. After a defensive stop by Houston, Stroud's heroics sealed the game.
Houston tied the game early with a 6-yard rushing touchdown from Stefon Diggs, and they entered halftime with a narrow 17-13 lead. As injuries mounted for both teams, with the Jaguars losing DE Josh Hines-Allen and the Texans missing key players like Dameon Pierce, both squads are looking to regroup. Next week, the Jaguars will host the Colts, while the Texans will face the Bills at home.
