Real Madrid initially dominated Alavés 3-0 without any issues, but relaxed in the final minutes and nearly faced a surprise.
Real Madrid defeated Alavés 3-2 in a match corresponding to Matchday 7 of the 2024-25 LaLiga season, held at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.
With this new victory, the team is now one point behind leaders Barcelona, with one more match played.
The first half was an absolute walk in the park for the Madrid side, who took the lead in the first minute thanks to Lucas Vázquez, who powerfully struck a cross from inside the box.
Kylian Mbappé had already signaled to increase the lead, but a goal was disallowed after a VAR review; however, in the 40th minute, after a combination with Jude Bellingham, the Frenchman faced the goal and with a precise shot made it 2-0.
In the second half, the game continued in the same vein, with the home team dominating and the visitors lacking resources, leading to an even wider scoreline.
Rodrygo (48’) took advantage of the opportunities in the box and, unmarked, sealed the score at 3-0. However, Alavés showed pride in the final minutes and capitalized on Real Madrid's relaxation to score two goals through Carlos Benavidez (85’) and Enrique García (86’), forcing Carlo Ancelotti's men to tighten up and avoid a major surprise.
In the end, the Madrid team won 3-2, though it came with unnecessary suffering in the closing minutes.
