Raphinha shined for Brazil, scoring two penalties to lead the team to a commanding 4-0 victory over Peru in their South American World Cup qualifying match on Tuesday night.

Following their encouraging 2-1 comeback win in Chile last week, Brazil showcased a more lively and dominant performance from the outset, controlling possession throughout the match. Late goals from Andreas Pereira and Luiz Henrique added to the scoreline, capping off an impressive display by the team.

After experiencing a rough patch with four losses in five qualifiers prior to their win in Chile, Brazil now sits fourth in the standings with 16 points from 10 games, just behind third-place Uruguay on goal difference.

"It was crucial for us to win both games and get back on track," Raphinha told Brazilian television Globo. "We managed to control both matches. While we're not perfect yet, I believe we're heading in the right direction."

Raphinha was instrumental in the first half, hitting the crossbar before opening the scoring from the penalty spot in the 38th minute after Peru's Carlos Zambrano was penalized for a handball. He then doubled Brazil's lead with another penalty in the 54th minute after Zambrano fouled Savinho in the box.

Substitute Andreas Pereira added Brazil's third with an acrobatic volley in the 72nd minute, expertly finishing off a cross from Luiz Henrique. The latter wrapped up the match with a low shot from the edge of the box just two minutes later.

In other matches, Argentina continued to dominate, defeating Bolivia 6-0 to maintain the top spot in the standings with 22 points, three points clear of Colombia, who thrashed last-placed Chile 4-0.

Colombia's victory was initiated by Davinson Sanchez, who scored a deflected header in the 34th minute, followed by Luis Diaz, who doubled their lead early in the second half with an easy finish after a defensive blunder from Chile. Jhon Duran and Luis Sinisterra also contributed to the scoreline as Chile faced their fifth consecutive defeat in qualifying.

Meanwhile, Paraguay secured a 2-1 win over Venezuela, placing them sixth in the standings with 13 points, tied with fifth-placed Ecuador and one point ahead of seventh-placed Bolivia. The top six teams will qualify for the 2026 World Cup finals in North America.
