On this fine Saturday morning, you might be wondering how Jane's Addiction's reunion tour is going. The answer isn't promising, as revealed by a widely circulated video from their Boston show on Friday night. The footage shows lead singer Perry Farrell being forcibly restrained by crew members and bassist Eric Avery after he took a swing at recently returned guitarist Dave Navarro during their performance of "Ocean Size." As Farrell was pulled away from Navarro, the lights were dimmed, the remaining band members apologized to the audience, and the show was abruptly ended.

This tour, which began in May, marks the first time the original lineup of Jane's Addiction has performed together since 2010. (Avery left the band from 2010 to 2022, and Navarro had also stepped away from touring.) The tour has already faced challenges, with Farrell mentioning vocal struggles during a New York show earlier in the week. However, the incident of Farrell attacking Navarro onstage represents a major escalation. Besides sparking a flurry of Oasis-related jokes online, it raises serious questions about the future of the tour.

Adding to the drama, Farrell's wife, Etty Lou Farrell, provided a detailed account of the incident on Instagram. She claimed that Farrell was frustrated because he felt his voice was being drowned out by the band. According to her, Farrell had been suffering from tinnitus and a sore throat, and when the band started "Ocean Size" before he was ready, the overwhelming stage volume made it impossible for him to hear or sing properly. This frustration reportedly led to the onstage altercation.

After Farrell was removed from the stage, Navarro, Avery, and drummer Stephen Perkins regrouped in front of the crowd, embraced each other, and thanked the audience for their patience.
