Penn State Triumphs Over UCLA, 27-11, to Improve to 5-0

No. 7 Penn State secured a 27-11 victory against UCLA on Saturday, outscoring the Bruins 24-3 in the middle quarters to overcome a sluggish start and remain unbeaten at 5-0.

The Nittany Lions struggled without star running back Nicholas Singleton, who was sidelined for the game. Kaytron Allen led the rushing attack with 78 yards and a touchdown, but the team managed only 85 total rushing yards—its lowest output of the season.

Quarterback Drew Allar stepped up with a solid performance, completing 17 of 24 passes for 237 yards and a touchdown. Liam Clifford had a breakout game, recording a career-high 107 yards on three receptions.

Penn State's defense was key, making crucial stops, including a pivotal fourth-and-1 stop on UCLA's opening drive. Despite UCLA's quarterback Justyn Martin showing poise in his first start, the Nittany Lions' pass rush proved too strong, finishing with seven tackles for loss and two sacks.

Dominating the third quarter has become a trend for Penn State, allowing just 87 yards in the second half of games this season. They have outscored opponents 45-0 in third quarters thus far.

Next up, Penn State will visit USC on October 12 for its first Big Ten road game of the season, with kickoff set for 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
