Oregon Dominates Michigan State 31-10, Prepares for Ohio State Showdown
Sixth-ranked Oregon improved to 5-0 with a convincing 31-10 victory over Michigan State on Friday night, setting the stage for a highly anticipated matchup against third-ranked Ohio State next weekend.
Dillon Gabriel led the Ducks, throwing for 257 yards with two touchdown passes and adding another on the ground. Jordan James had a standout performance, rushing for a career-high 166 yards and a touchdown. Tez Johnson contributed with 10 catches for 81 yards and a score.
The first half saw both teams struggle with turnovers; Gabriel threw two interceptions, while Michigan State's Aidan Chiles fumbled at the Oregon 2-yard line. However, Gabriel bounced back, scoring on a 9-yard run to give the Ducks an early lead.
Oregon steadily built its lead, with James scoring to make it 14-0 and Gabriel hitting Evan Stewart for a 9-yard touchdown just before halftime. A 50-yard field goal from Andrew Boyle and a 2-yard touchdown pass to Johnson extended Oregon's lead to 31-0 before Michigan State managed a late touchdown.
With their focus now on Ohio State, Oregon's coach Dan Lanning emphasized the challenge ahead, saying, "There’s a reason they’re one of the best teams in the country."
Michigan State, now 3-3, will take a bye week before facing Iowa on October 19.
