Oasis has announced the cancellation of 50,000 tickets purchased through unauthorized resale sites for their 2025 UK reunion shows. This decision, confirmed by promoters Live Nation and SJM Concerts on October 29, aims to address concerns over ticket sales on third-party platforms. The canceled tickets will be made available again through Ticketmaster, the official seller, at face value.

The move comes after Oasis and their promoters issued multiple warnings against buying from unverified sources, as these tickets could be fraudulent or subject to cancellation. Only Ticketmaster and resale partner Twickets were designated as authorized sellers for the reunion shows. Despite these warnings, approximately 4% of tickets ended up on resale sites within hours of the initial sale, prompting the need for action.

Live Nation and SJM Concerts are taking strong measures against secondary ticketing companies that profit from reselling tickets. However, Viagogo has indicated that it will continue to sell Oasis tickets as long as it is legal to do so, with 2% of the tickets currently listed on platforms like Viagogo and Stubhub. They assert that they are fulfilling a legitimate consumer need.

While ticket resale is generally permitted if done legally, the laws surrounding this practice vary by region, leading to some uncertainty about the scope of the cancellations. It remains unclear if the canceled tickets will affect all of Oasis’s upcoming shows or just the ones in the UK. The controversy highlights ongoing challenges in the concert ticketing industry, particularly related to resale practices.
