Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients will receive two payments in November due to the regular payment date for December's benefits coinciding with a weekend. This adjustment ensures that individuals relying on these payments will not experience delays.

SSI is a financial assistance program aimed at those aged 65 and older with limited income, as well as individuals under 65 with disabilities. The maximum benefit is currently set at $943, and approximately 7.5 million people rely on these payments each month.

For November, recipients can expect their regular payment of $943 on Friday, November 1. Then, due to the usual December payment date falling on a Sunday (December 1), a second payment will be issued on Friday, November 29. The Social Security Administration (SSA) clarified that this second payment is not a duplicate but rather a necessary adjustment to prevent any financial disadvantage for recipients during the weekend.

All other Social Security payments, including those for retirees, will follow the standard schedule throughout December. However, there will be adjustments during the holiday season. For instance, retirees with birthdays from the 21st to the 31st will receive their payments a day earlier, on Tuesday, December 24, to avoid delays on Christmas Day. Similarly, SSI recipients will receive their December payments early on December 31 since January 1 is a federal holiday.

In addition to the adjusted payment schedule, the SSA announced a 2.5% increase in benefits starting in 2025, aimed at helping beneficiaries cope with living costs amid easing inflation. The first revised payments will be distributed in January 2025 for retirement benefits and in December 2024 for SSI recipients.

This proactive approach by the SSA is designed to ensure that recipients maintain financial stability and receive their benefits without unnecessary waiting periods.
