Phillies Rally to Dramatic 7-6 Win Over Mets, Even NL Division Series
Nick Castellanos delivered a thrilling two-out single off Tylor Megill, scoring Bryce Harper and clinching a 7-6 victory for the Philadelphia Phillies over the New York Mets on Sunday. The win evened the NL Division Series at one game apiece.
After a tense ninth inning, Castellanos celebrated with teammates as the crowd at Citizens Bank Park erupted. The pivotal hit came after Castellanos fell behind 0-2; he adjusted to pull a hanging slider into left field.
"Unbelievable," Castellanos said post-game. "It was incredible, but the series is even. Now we go to New York, and there's a lot of baseball left."
Harper also contributed with a two-run homer earlier in the game, igniting a comeback from a 3-0 deficit. The Mets had taken the lead in the seventh with a solo homer from Brandon Nimmo and a two-run shot by Mark Vientos. However, Bryson Stott's two-run triple in the eighth put the Phillies ahead before Vientos answered with another homer.
Game 3 is set for Tuesday in New York, where the Mets will host their first game since September 22. Phillies pitcher Aaron Nola will face Mets lefty Sean Manaea. Harper expressed confidence, saying, "I expect that to be a pretty hostile environment, and we're looking forward to it."
