The New York Giants suffered a 26-18 defeat to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday Night Football in Week 8, continuing a trend of disappointing primetime performances for Daniel Jones, who now holds a record of 1-15 in such games. This loss drops the Giants to 2-6, leaving them at the bottom of the NFC East standings.

Despite the defeat, there were bright spots on the offensive side. Rookie running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. excelled, accumulating 150 scrimmage yards and a touchdown on 22 touches. Malik Nabers, a Rookie of the Year candidate, contributed with seven catches for 73 yards, while Darius Slayton added 108 yards on four receptions. Together, they helped the Giants total 394 yards of offense, but the team managed only one touchdown due to critical errors.

Several factors hindered the Giants' performance. Untimely drops from receivers, including two from Nabers, prevented the offense from sustaining drives. Jones struggled in key moments, overthrew receivers, and committed a costly fumble in the red zone late in the game. The offensive line's ongoing issues were compounded by Andrew Thomas' injury, resulting in Jones being sacked four times and hit 12 times throughout the game.

Defensively, the Giants showed resilience, holding the Steelers to 21 points for the seventh time this season. They forced four field goals and registered four sacks and eight quarterback hits, with Bobby Okereke making a notable play by forcing and recovering a fumble. However, the defense still allowed big plays, with the Steelers averaging 9.9 yards per pass attempt, highlighting a persistent vulnerability.

Coaching decisions also came under scrutiny. Head coach Brian Daboll's team struggled with discipline, accumulating 11 penalties for 65 yards, which impacted their scoring chances. The play-calling was criticized, particularly in the red zone where the Giants went 0-for-3. A poorly executed trick play during a two-point conversion attempt exemplified the offensive struggles, while defensive coordinator Shane Bowen's unit managed to limit the Steelers in the red zone but needs to address their susceptibility to big plays moving forward.
