Jabrill Peppers Arrested on Multiple Charges
New England Patriots safety Jabrill Peppers was arrested on Saturday and is facing serious charges, including strangulation and drug possession, according to Braintree, Massachusetts police. The 29-year-old team captain did not play in the Patriots' 15-10 loss to the Miami Dolphins, having been ruled out due to a shoulder injury.
Police reported responding to a disturbance early Saturday morning, leading to Peppers' arrest for "assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, strangulation, and possession of a Class B substance believed to be cocaine." The alleged victim received treatment at the scene.
Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo confirmed he was aware of the situation and stated that the team is cooperating with the NFL while gathering more information. The Patriots issued a statement acknowledging the incident but declined to comment further. Peppers is expected to be arraigned Monday in Quincy District Court.
