Authorities Identify Missouri Mother's Remains Found in Woods Six Months After Disappearance

The skeletal remains of Emily Strite, a 34-year-old mother of four, were discovered in a remote wooded area in Missouri, six months after her mysterious disappearance. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed her identity through medical and dental records after a homeowner on Frissell Road made the grim discovery on September 28.

While investigators have not determined a cause of death, they continue to probe both her disappearance and death, leaving her family and friends searching for answers. "We pray now that we get answers and whoever hurt her is brought to justice," said Amanda Bauman, a childhood friend of Strite, who was known for her vibrant spirit.

Strite was last seen on April 12, when she left a friend’s house on foot in the De Soto area, where she had been staying. She was reported missing eight days later by her mother, Charlyn McClain. On that last day, Strite told her mother she intended to visit her three children in Illinois, who live with their father.

Concerns escalated when Strite's children's father contacted McClain, stating he hadn’t heard from her in over a week and was unaware of any planned visit. "He had never called me to ask about Emily before," McClain recounted, prompting her to file a missing persons report the next day.

Despite ongoing investigations, police have found no evidence of foul play in Strite’s case, and currently, there are no suspects or persons of interest. "It shouldn’t have happened," Bauman lamented. "She never deserved to just disappear into thin air."
