TreeHouse Foods has issued a recall for over 500 varieties of frozen waffles, which are sold under well-known store brands, including Walmart’s Great Value and Target’s Good & Gather, due to potential listeria contamination.
The recalled products were distributed across various grocery chains in the U.S. and Canada, including:
Aldi (Breakfast Best brand)
Dollar General (Clover Valley brand)
Food Lion
Giant Eagle
Hannaford
Harris Teeter
H-E-B
PriceChopper (PICS brand)
Publix
Schnucks
Southeastern Grocers
Target (Good & Gather brand)
Tops
Walmart (Great Value brand)
These waffles were also sold under other brand names, such as Foodhold, Kodiak Cakes, and Simple Truth.
Listeria infections can lead to symptoms like fever, muscle aches, and fatigue, and in severe cases, may cause stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, and convulsions. Symptoms can arise within days or up to 10 weeks after consuming contaminated food, posing a greater risk for older adults, those with weakened immune systems, and pregnant individuals.
Although TreeHouse Foods reported no confirmed illnesses linked to the recall, they urge consumers to check their freezers for the affected products. If found, these waffles should be discarded or returned to the point of purchase for a refund.
The contamination was detected during routine testing at the manufacturing facility. For any questions, consumers can reach TreeHouse Foods at 800-596-2903, available Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Central Time.
