The Swedish Prosecution Authority released a statement acknowledging the investigation into the alleged incident, following an official complaint. Reports from outlets such as Aftonbladet, Expressen, and SVT indicate that Mbappe is the focus of this inquiry, which coincided with his recent trip to Sweden during a break from Real Madrid activities after being excluded from France's latest UEFA Nations League squad.

According to Expressen, police have seized clothing as potential evidence and have suggested that Mbappe is "reasonably suspected" of rape and sexual assault. However, no formal charges have been filed, and no suspects are currently in custody.

In response to the swirling speculation, Mbappe took to social media, labeling the reports as "FAKE NEWS!!!!" He suggested that the timing of the allegations coincides suspiciously with his ongoing appeal for €55 million (£46m/$60m) in unpaid bonuses from his former club, Paris Saint-Germain.

When contacted by French news agency AFP, Mbappe's representatives stated they had "no knowledge of a legal complaint" against him.
