King Felipe VI of Spain faced a fierce backlash during his visit to the Valencia region, which has been severely impacted by unprecedented flooding. Footage showed protesters shouting "murderer" and "shame" at the king, questioning why preventive measures were not taken to avert the disaster. The floods, described as the worst in decades, have left entire neighborhoods covered in mud and debris, resulting in over 200 fatalities and many missing.

Emergency workers continue to search through underground car parks and tunnels in hopes of finding survivors or recovering bodies, while anger grows over the perceived inadequacy of the authorities' response. Residents have criticized local officials for not providing sufficient warnings or support during the crisis, adding to the public outrage.

During his visit to the hard-hit town of Paiporta, King Felipe and Queen Letizia were confronted by an overwhelming crowd. Despite the hostile atmosphere, the king attempted to engage with some protesters, even sharing brief embraces, demonstrating his desire to connect with the affected community amid the turmoil.

In response to the disaster, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has ordered the deployment of 10,000 additional troops, police officers, and civil guards to assist in recovery efforts, marking the largest peacetime deployment in Spain's history. However, Sánchez admitted that the response was still "not enough" and acknowledged the existence of "severe problems and shortages" in addressing the aftermath of the catastrophic flooding.
