Tennessee Rep. Mark Green's Wife Accuses Him of Affair Amid Divorce Proceedings

Tennessee Representative Mark Green's wife, Camilla "Camie" Green, has accused the Congressman of infidelity in a series of text messages sent to his colleagues on Wednesday. Green, who chairs the House Homeland Security Committee, filed for divorce from Camie last month after 30 years of marriage. According to Camie, the reason for the split was Green’s affair with a 32-year-old woman.

In her texts and an email sent to Capitol Hill lawmakers, Camie alleged that Green’s affair involved a political reporter and named the journalist’s news outlet. This prompted a cease-and-desist letter from the news organization, which dismissed Camie’s claims as false and damaging to the reporter’s reputation. Brian Westley, the content counsel for the news outlet, demanded a retraction, stating the accusations had caused significant emotional and professional harm.

Camie later issued a statement to POLITICO correcting her earlier claim and expressed regret over the mistake. The woman involved in the affair also spoke anonymously to POLITICO, describing the relationship as “on-again-off-again.”

In his divorce filing, Green cited "irreconcilable differences." Despite announcing his retirement from Congress earlier this year, he decided to stay after receiving encouragement from fellow Republicans, including former President Donald Trump.

Camie has been vocal about her frustration, claiming that Green's focus on power and adoration led him to push God and her out of his life. She criticized lawmakers for indulging in personal vices while maintaining a facade of piety, noting Green's involvement in affairs and divorces among his colleagues, despite hosting a weekly Bible study at their home.

Green acknowledged the challenging situation in a statement, requesting privacy during the divorce proceedings. He affirmed his commitment to serving his district while navigating this personal matter.
