Jazz Chisholm Jr. Sparks Yankees' Victory Over Royals in ALDS Game 1

In a crucial moment during the seventh inning of the Yankees' 6-5 win over the Kansas City Royals, Jazz Chisholm Jr. stood at first base, calculating his chances to swipe second and represent the winning run. With Anthony Volpe at the plate, Chisholm alerted first-base coach Travis Chapman that he was ready to steal.

As Lorenzen threw a pitch in the dirt, Chisholm sprinted for second. Although he got a late start, Royals catcher Salvador Pérez's errant throw allowed Chisholm to beat the tag from second baseman Michael Massey. The Royals challenged the call, but after review, it stood, keeping the Yankees' scoring threat alive.

Two batters later, Alex Verdugo hit a line drive to left field, scoring Chisholm and giving the Yankees the lead. Chisholm confidently noted, "I knew I was in there," despite Massey's solid tag.

Royals manager Matt Quatraro felt the call could have been overturned, stating he didn't receive a clear explanation.

In the final innings, Tommy Kahnle and Luke Weaver kept the Royals scoreless, with Weaver striking out Bobby Witt Jr. after a tense at-bat.

Chisholm's speed and agility—showcased by his daring steal and run—demonstrated why the Yankees traded for him. With his ability to change the game's dynamics, Chisholm proved he can shine on the postseason stage. "Nobody's going to throw me out," he declared confidently.
