Jay Leno, born James Douglas Muir Leno, recently opened up about the challenges he's faced, while expressing gratitude for his resilience. According to Fox News, the former host of NBC’s The Tonight Show has endured significant personal difficulties, including a serious incident in 2022. While working on one of his cars, Leno suffered third-degree burns to his face after a gas fire, landing him in the ICU. Reflecting on the event, Leno lightheartedly remarked, "I got burned in a fire. I got a face full of gas. A spark jumped. [It’s] not like, ‘How did this happen?’ I mean, people get burned every day."

Despite the severity of the accident, Leno was out of the hospital in just over a week. He shared, "I missed two days' work. So it wasn't bad. It was better than the broken leg, believe me." Remarkably, just two months after his burns, Leno was involved in another accident when he broke his leg in a motorcycle crash. Describing the incident, he said, "I was on my motorcycle, and a guy had a wire across his driveway with no flag on it. I turned, and the sun was in my eyes. It tore my face across."

Joking about his injuries, he quipped, "I had to call my face guy and say, ‘Remember that new face you gave me? I need another one.’ He gave me a new face. I used to look like Abe Lincoln. Now, I look the same, just a better version. I’m saving face, or maybe I’m just two-faced—take it however you want."

Leno is also navigating a personal challenge with his wife, Mavis, who was diagnosed with advanced dementia earlier this year. Staying grounded, Leno commented, "It's OK. You know, it's life. Everybody goes through it." He shared how he takes care of her, cooking dinner every night and maintaining their sense of humor, adding, "She’s good. We have a lot of fun. It’s just a change you have to adapt to, but that’s OK."

On a brighter note, Leno is still immersed in his passion for cars. Although his show Jay Leno’s Garage was canceled from network TV after eight seasons in January 2023, he is continuing the series on his YouTube channel, ensuring his love for automobiles remains part of his life.
