James Blunt is giving fans a unique opportunity to shape his future—literally! In a bold and humorous marketing stunt, the British singer has announced that he will legally change his name to whatever his fans suggest if his debut album, Back to Bedlam, hits number one on the charts again following its re-release on October 11, marking its 20th anniversary.

In a cheeky Instagram and X video, the 50-year-old artist playfully addressed his fans, encouraging them to submit their name suggestions in the comments. The most popular suggestion will become his new moniker, should the album climb back to the top.

Blunt humorously reflected on his career, noting, “You’ve probably heard the rumors are true; I’m re-releasing Back to Bedlam on October 11—something that has kept me consistently rich for the last 20 years.” He added, “To give back to my adoring public, if the album re-enters the charts at number one, I will legally change my name. What will it be? That’s entirely up to you!”

The singer even shared a list of some of the playful names he’s been called over the years, including “the Most Hated Man in Pop,” “Annoying,” “James Beige,” and “James C**t.” He made it clear that if the album doesn’t reach number one, he won’t be making any changes.

Concluding his video, Blunt quipped, “My name is James Blunt, and you have the power to absolutely f**k my life.” Fans are sure to have fun with this challenge as the countdown to the album's release begins!
