How to Cook Rice


Cooking rice may seem simple, but getting it just right can be a challenge. Here’s a basic method:


Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of rice (white or brown)

  • 2 cups of water

  • Pinch of salt (optional)




Instructions:


  1. Rinse the Rice: Place the rice in a fine-mesh strainer and rinse under cold water until the water runs clear.


  2. Boil Water: In a saucepan, bring water to a boil. Add a pinch of salt if desired.


  3. Add Rice: Stir in the rinsed rice, cover the pot, and reduce the heat to low.


  4. Cook: For white rice, simmer for about 18 minutes; for brown rice, about 45 minutes. Do not lift the lid while it cooks.


  5. Fluff and Serve: Remove from heat, let it sit covered for 5 minutes, then fluff with a fork before serving.
