Rory Callum Sykes, a 32-year-old former child actor known for hosting the British TV show "Kiddy Kapers," tragically passed away in the recent Malibu wildfires. Born in Australia with blindness and cerebral palsy, Sykes overcame significant health challenges, regaining his sight and learning to walk through surgeries and therapies.
He later became a motivational speaker and philanthropist, co-founding the Happy Charity to support sick children. Sykes was residing in a cottage on his family's estate in Malibu when the fire struck. His mother, Shelley Sykes, attempted to extinguish the flames but was hindered by a lack of water supply and her own injuries.
Emergency services were unable to reach them in time, and Sykes succumbed to carbon monoxide poisoning. The Malibu wildfires have caused significant devastation, with at least 11 fatalities and thousands of structures destroyed.
