Fat Joe has opened up about his impressive 200-pound weight loss, attributing much of his success to the popular weight loss drug Ozempic. The "All The Way Up" star, 54, first showcased his stunning transformation in July 2023 and recently shared insights into his journey with US Weekly.

Combining the effects of Ozempic with a low-carb diet, Fat Joe explained, “Ozempic says you may only have two pieces of your favorite stuff.” He emphasized his focus on reducing carbohydrates by avoiding bread, pasta, and rice, stating, “That’s the smartest way to eat.”

Though he didn’t disclose how long he has been using the medication, he reflected on how his weight loss has positively impacted his health. After years of struggling with diabetes, he noted that shedding pounds has helped him gain better control of his condition. Fat Joe’s journey towards a healthier lifestyle began over two decades ago, inspired by the tragic loss of his friend, rapper Big Pun, to a heart attack in 2000.

He recalled the moment at Big Pun's funeral when he realized he needed to make a change for the sake of his own children, saying, “You gotta lose weight; otherwise you outta here.”

In a lighthearted moment, he considered changing his stage name to “Slim Joe” but ultimately decided against it. “It wouldn’t make sense to change it. Now it’s my brand,” he explained.

Fat Joe has also been candid about his struggles with depression, likening his mind to “the most complex Rubik’s Cube.” He described how understanding his body’s response to food has been crucial not only for his physical health but also for his mental well-being.

“I no longer inject insulin as I did since I was diagnosed with diabetes at age 12,” he shared, reflecting on the positive changes in his life. His commitment to maintaining a healthier lifestyle continues to inspire fans, even as he navigates the complexities of public perception and self-identity.
