he Los Angeles Dodgers kicked off the National League Championship Series (NLCS) in style, dominating the New York Mets 9-0 at Dodger Stadium. This shutout victory marked their 33rd consecutive scoreless inning, tying the MLB playoff record set by the Baltimore Orioles during the 1966 World Series.
Jack Flaherty was exceptional on the mound, pitching seven innings with just two hits, two walks, and six strikeouts. He became the first Dodgers pitcher since Clayton Kershaw in 2020 to achieve a scoreless playoff start of seven or more innings. “It’s been just picking up where the last guy left off,” Flaherty noted, highlighting the team’s collective effort.
The Dodgers struck early, with Max Muncy driving in two runs in the first inning and Shohei Ohtani adding another in the second. Runs continued to flow, with key contributions from Tommy Edman, Freddie Freeman, and a bases-clearing double by Mookie Betts in the eighth.
With this victory, the Dodgers secured one of the largest shutout wins in playoff history. Game 2 of the NLCS is set for Monday at Dodger Stadium.
