The Tennessee Titans and Kansas City Chiefs are close to finalizing a trade that will send wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to Kansas City. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Titans will receive a conditional fourth-round pick in exchange for the veteran receiver, with the deal expected to be completed by Wednesday.

Kansas City has been dealing with a shortage of wide receivers following injuries to key players. Rashee Rice is out for the season due to a knee injury, while Marquise "Hollywood" Brown and JuJu Smith-Schuster have also been sidelined. Hopkins, a 12-year NFL veteran, is in the final season of a two-year deal and has shown resilience, recovering from a torn MCL to record 15 receptions for 173 yards and one touchdown this season.

The addition of Hopkins is significant for quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who is seeking more reliable targets. Despite expressing confidence in his current receivers, Mahomes has seen limited production from them, with only two healthy wideouts—rookie Xavier Worthy and Justin Watson—combining for just 22 receptions through Week 7.

The Chiefs have a history of successfully acquiring wide receivers before the trade deadline. Last season, they traded for Mecole Hardman, who played a crucial role in their Super Bowl victory, and in 2022, they brought in Kadarius Toney, who also made impactful plays in the postseason. This pattern highlights Kansas City’s commitment to strengthening its receiving corps as they push for another championship run.
