Coca-Cola Faces Backlash Over ‘Woke’ Can Personalization, Excluding Conservative Phrases
Coca-Cola is facing backlash after its personalized cans reportedly banned the words "Jesus" and "Trump 2024," while allowing phrases like "Harris Walz 2024," "Satan," and "Allah." The controversy began when a Facebook user, Antwoine Hill, highlighted the issue, which quickly gained traction on social media, particularly on X via the account Libs of TikTok.
Initially, the personalization tool seemed to favor certain political figures over others, prompting calls for a boycott among conservatives who noted the apparent bias. Hill expressed surprise at the reaction but emphasized the importance of standing up for the name of Jesus.
In response to the uproar, Coca-Cola updated its policy to prohibit all personalized names that are religious, political, or potentially offensive. The company stated that while some names might be allowed with additional context, their technology isn't perfect, and they offer alternative approval methods in-store.
The incident underscores ongoing debates around corporate inclusivity and political neutrality, with many now questioning the implications of such policies.
