The Kansas City Chiefs have strengthened their defense by trading for pass rusher Joshua Uche from the New England Patriots, as confirmed by coach Andy Reid. Uche, who was a healthy scratch in the Patriots' recent victory over the New York Jets, has been the subject of trade interest due to his performance this season.

At 26 years old, Uche has recorded two sacks in six games this season, bringing his career total to 20.5 sacks. He re-signed with the Patriots for one year on a $3 million contract but will become an unrestricted free agent after the season concludes. This acquisition represents a strategic move for the Chiefs as they look to enhance their defensive lineup.

This trade marks the second major acquisition for the undefeated Chiefs (7-0), following their recent deal for wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins from the Tennessee Titans. In their latest game, the Chiefs defeated the Las Vegas Raiders 27-20, with their defense showcasing its strength by recording five sacks from different players.

Uche joins a Chiefs defense currently ranked second in the NFL, a unit that Reid believes will benefit from his skills. Drafted in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft from the University of Michigan, Uche's addition is seen as a valuable step forward as Kansas City aims for continued success this season.
