Amy Carter: Life After the White House and Eulogy for Father Jimmy Carter

Amy Carter, born on October 19, 1967, is the youngest child and only daughter of former President Jimmy Carter and his wife, Rosalynn Carter. She moved into the White House at the age of nine, becoming one of the youngest children to reside there since John F. Kennedy's children.

During her time in the White House, Amy was known for her independent spirit, often engaging in activities like rollerskating and reading during state dinners. Her youthful exuberance and candid demeanor made her a beloved figure among the public.

In the 1980s, Amy became politically active, participating in protests against apartheid and the CIA's recruitment efforts. These activities led to her arrest on three occasions. Despite these challenges, she pursued her education, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Memphis College of Art and a Master's in Art History from Tulane University.

Amy Carter has two children from two marriages and currently serves on the board of counselors at the Carter Center. Despite a low public profile in recent years, she remains involved in advocacy for diplomacy and human rights.

Recently, Amy Carter has been in the public eye due to the passing of her father, President Jimmy Carter. She delivered a eulogy at his funeral on January 9, 2025, in Washington, D.C., honoring his legacy and contributions.
