6.9 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Japan: Tsunami Advisory Issued and Lifted – Watch Shocking Video Footage

On January 13, 2025, a magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck off the coast of Miyazaki Prefecture in southwestern Japan. The Japan Meteorological Agency initially issued a tsunami advisory, warning of possible waves up to one meter and urging residents to avoid coastal areas.
The earthquake occurred at approximately 9:19 p.m. local time, with its epicenter a few miles offshore at a depth of about 19 miles.
Following the advisory, small tsunami waves of around 20 centimeters were detected at two ports in the region. However, there were no immediate reports of significant damage or injuries. The tsunami advisory was subsequently lifted, and normalcy has returned to the affected areas.
