49ers Rally to 36-24 Victory Over Seahawks in Thursday Night Football
The San Francisco 49ers faced a crucial game against the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday Night Football, eager to recover from a shocking home loss to the Arizona Cardinals. They delivered with a 36-24 win at Lumen Field, shaking off past disappointments.
After a strong first half, leading 16-3, the 49ers seemed in control until a 97-yard kickoff return touchdown by Seattle’s Laviska Shenault and a one-yard run from Kenneth Walker cut their lead to six points. Unlike their previous outing, the 49ers held firm under pressure. Key plays from Brock Purdy to George Kittle and a six-yard run from Kyle Juszczyk ensured San Francisco stayed ahead.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan, reflecting on the team’s resilience, stated, “You can never feel too relaxed… we played well in the second half, and I was glad our guys could fight through that.”
Purdy had a solid game, completing 18 of 28 passes for 255 yards and three touchdowns. Despite losing running back Jordan Mason to injury, rookie Isaac Guerendo stepped up with 99 rushing yards.
The defense excelled as well, limiting Seattle to just 52 rushing yards and intercepting Geno Smith twice. Notably, Deebo Samuel made history, becoming the first wide receiver with 20 touchdown receptions and 20 rushing touchdowns after a 76-yard catch.
Samuel emphasized the significance of the win: “It was definitely a must-win… we treated it as a must-win for sure to get back on track.” With the victory, the 49ers improved to 3-3, reigniting their playoff hopes.
